Most holidays are food holidays! Turkey on Thanksgiving, barbecue on the Fourth, ham for Easter — you get the point. There’s always a reason to feast!

But, did you know that there are holidays devoted only to food? Like Pizza Day? Taco Day? And — well, if you can think of a food, there’s probably a holiday for it. We’ll show you some of the best ones to add to your calendar, plus how you can score some great deals on national food holidays.

1. National Pizza Day

If you’re a pizza lover, then this is the be-all, end-all food holiday. It happens on February 9 each year — and you will find deals at most pizza places, either for the day or for the whole week. This is especially true at national and regional pizza chains. Be sure to check early in February to save some dough.

And on that note, there are a few other times when you can often find deals at pizzerias celebrating holidays. Check around Pi Day (March 14), National Pizza Party Day (May 17), National Cheese Pizza Day (September 5), National Pepperoni Pizza Day (September 20), and National Pizza Month (October).

Oh, and National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day is on November 12 — but we don’t think many pizzerias celebrate this one.

2. National Taco Day

Does getting free tacos make this the best holiday of the year? Maybe. Mark your calendar for October 4, which is National Taco Day — and then be sure to check out taquerias in your area for deals.

On National Taco Day, start with Taco Bell, which usually offers a free taco. On the Border is another big chain that offers discounts for the holiday. And if you’re a fan of authentic tacos, be sure to check out all the smaller taquerias, too — especially if you live in an area where tacos are a way of life. Often, you’ll find dozens of small taco shops all offering either a free taco or discounts.

3. National Ice Cream Day

This one was designated a holiday by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Each year, National Ice Cream Day is on the third Sunday of July — and in fact, the whole month of July is designated National Ice Cream Month.

Where to get deals? Just about anywhere that sells ice cream, even places like Burger King. Lots of national and local restaurants get in on this one, and all of the big ice cream chains like Dairy Queen, Baskin Robbins, and Coldstone Creamery offer some sort of discount. Most don’t offer these discounts throughout the whole month — just on National Ice Cream Day.

4. National Hamburger Day

National Hamburger Day is on May 28 — and it’s one day a year where you can score free burgers if you know where to look. Wendy’s, Burger King, and others offer a free burger with purchase. At places like Smashburger, Friendly’s, and elsewhere, you can get either a discount or a free item like a sundae to go with your burger.
