7 Tips for the Perfect Valentine's Day Gift for Her
By Megan Capone Monday, Feb 11, 2013
Hey guys - stuck for Valentine's Day gift ideas? Well you're in luck. Here are just a few ideas to help spark that romantic creativity.
- Make it Meaningful
Valentine's Day gifts don't have to be expensive. In fact, I have it on good authority that it's the thought that counts. I mean, anyone can hit the drugstore, pick up the first card they see, a box of chocolates and a single red rose and be done with it.
- Plan Ahead
Do yourself a favor and pick out your Valentine's Day card ahead of time. You don't want to wait until the last minute and end up choosing from the last few cards available. Plus, have you ever seen the card aisle on Valentine's Day? You could seriously get hurt. Plan a trip to the card store at least a few days before V-Day and give yourself some time to read the cards and pick out the card that most expresses they way you feel about your Valentine.
- Personalize It
Sit down and take a few minutes to personalize the card. Try underlining a few key phrases that really mean something to you. And don't just sign the card. Write a simple line or two (or more if you're feeling inclined) and really tell her how much you love her in your own words. Seal the deal by signing it with that little nickname that she calls you when you're alone.
- Pay Attention
No idea what kind of gift to get her for V-Day? Think about it for a moment - has she mentioned anything that she has wanted (kitchen appliances do NOT count) in passing? Does she have a favorite scent or favorite color. Think about her and what she likes and that should lead you to the perfect present.
- Be Romantic
Think about how you met or your first date, or some other moment in your past that was a special time for the two of you. Use that moment to spark your creativity. Is there a bench in the park that holds special significance? Take a trip to the park and take a picture of the bench. Bring a teddy bear or flowers or something personal to commemorate the moment and take a picture. Then pick out a nice frame and add a little note telling her how much that moment means to you.
- Ask, Ask, Ask!
If you want to make her happy on V-Day why not just broach the subject (there are many ways to subtly slip it into a conversation) and she what she would like or would expect. No luck? Try a female friend or relative. Odds are that they will know what would make her happy on V-Day.
- Flowers at Work?
If your Valentine works in an office area surrounded by other women, it might be a good idea to send her flowers at work. Some women (me included) love to get flowers at work so they can show off how thoughtful your man is. Be sure to find out if this is something she likes, first. I know some women who could care less about getting flowers and could use something more practical instead.
If all else fails, here are some items that I wouldn't mind receiving on Valentine's Day. She might like them, too.
